2014-2015 UASEM.

The mission of the Urban Assembly School for Emergency Management (UASEM) is to put students in the shoes of emergency managers in order to hone their communication, collaboration, high-stakes problem-solving, and complex reasoning skills. The goal is to help these students to succeed after high school, whether in a college or professional environment. By constantly applying what they learn in the classroom to disaster preparation and response scenarios, the goal is to help students develop the confidence to pursue their dreams and the character to serve their communities.  Founded in 2013, the UASEM will enroll 9th and 10th graders in the 2014-15 school year.

UASEM, is a natural partner with SHOREline, not only because they teach emergency management; but also because the New York metro area itself was impacted by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.  As SHOREliners, the students at USAEM have the opportunity to expand their horizons as they learn disaster management and help form a national network of young leaders in disaster preparation and recovery.

Co-facilitators of the 2014 -2015 SHOREline Chapter at USAEM are Ms. Keisha Husbands and Mr. Sal Puglisi.
